The way Ritsuka hardly even blinked as that voice finally matched up with what seemed so familiar about the squirrel probably spoke volumes to the kind of weirdness Ritsuka was used to.
"What are you doing here?"
If he'd wanted to talk, he could easily have just messaged her or something, after all.
Stuff's going down in a bad way and you're just hanging out at home...
Didn't things end up bad for you the last time this happened?"
As if he trusts a phone during a time where there are ZEALOTS all over the app--if they can backdoor magically into Zodiac, he doesn't doubt they could see other phone conversations...
No, in person--or in squirrel shape--is best.
"Which brings me to my point.
Shouldn't you find somewhere better you should be hiding?"
Well, that was sure one way to get to the point. It was probably obvious from Ritsuka's grimace that she'd already been thinking something similar.
"I know that. And I mean--I know Yasuho would help again if I asked, but I don't think it's fair when that could put her in danger too, you know?" Because of course Ritsuka would be thinking of something like that even above her own safety. "It's just... Most people I know either don't really have the extra space, or else I'd just be putting them in danger, instead."
Would most of them help her without a second thought if she asked? Almost certainly. But Ritsuka had a hard time with asking when she knew it would just be adding to their burdens.
